Dan is a retired businessman who has dedicated himself to philanthropy, and is Beauty Bus’ Founding Board Chair. In addition to extensively giving his time to volunteer at organizations, Dan has served on the Board of Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles, Camp Max Straus, and the Los Angeles Jewish Home for the Aging and several other boards.
Wendy Marantz Levine
Wendy is an attorney, who founded Beauty Bus with her cousin Alicia in memory of Wendy’s sister, Melissa Marantz Nealy. Wendy left her job as Director of Litigation at a large legal services firm in Los Angeles, assisting the elderly, poor and disabled to join Beauty Bus full time. Previously in her law career, Wendy practiced in a large private law firm, taught law school and worked for a federal judge. She graduated from Duke University and the University of Michigan Law School.
Tayiika M. Dennis
Tayiika is a Senior Manager at NSBN LLP, CPAs & Business Consultants, providing audit services for nonprofit organizations, including OMB Circular A-133 audits with a special focus on funding streams and government contracts. In April 2014 she was recognized by the California Society of Certified Public Accountants with one of only four Women to Watch Awards Recognizing Service, Contributions to CPA Profession. Prior to joining NSBN, Tayiika worked at a large international CPA firm, a regional CPA firm, and at Universal Studios as a financial analyst. Tayiika enjoys advising her nonprofit clients to run an effective organization, knowing the challenges of complying with regulations surrounding nonprofits.
Sharon is a recognized community leader and activist whose career included executive positions in operations, organizational development, sales and systems management. Sharon brings to Beauty Bus a wealth of non-profit leadership experience. In addition to the Beauty Bus Board, Sharon is a City of Calabasas Commissioner, is on the Calabasas Executive Committee for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, and is a Board member for Las Virgenes Educational Fund and Gift of Life Los Angeles. She is also a member of the parents’ advisory council at the University of South Carolina. Sharon previously served as Board President of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of California, and Parent/Faculty Council co-president of Calabasas High School, AC Stelle Middle School and Bay Laurel Elementary.
Deborah is the CEO and President of Creative Age Publications and and the 2014 Beauty Bus Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree. Creative Age Publications focuses solely on the beauty industry and publishes seven magazines including: NAILPRO, NAIL IT!, DAYSPA, Beauty Store Business, Beauty Launchpad, The Colorist, MedEsthetics and Surgical Aesthetics. The publications reach more than 450,000 readers per month. In addition to the Beauty Bus Foundation, Deborah serves on the City of Hope Professional Beauty Association Executive Committee and frequently contributes advertising and editorial space for AIDS and breast cancer charities, as well as numerous other beauty industry causes.
Jay Halaby is President of Jay Halaby and Associates, a national Manufacturer’s Representation Organization in the Beauty Field. Jay started Halaby and Associates in April of 2001 with one other representative and his wife, Alex, working part time. The company now has 25 salespeople, servicing Full Service Distributors, Nail Supplies, Beauty Supply Stores and Re-Distributors in all beauty channels across the country. He recently added salespeople to work in Latin America. Jay has over 20 years of experience in the beauty industry. A native to Southern California, Jay is a graduate of University California, Irvine with a B.S. Degree in Chemistry, and a minor in Management. He and Alex have two children and have been caregivers to their elderly parents.
Richard is an accomplished plaintiff’s attorney who has achieved significant results in complex litigation cases. He has experience in individual product liability, personal injury, and medical malpractice litigation. The majority of his career has been spent representing plaintiffs on a contingency basis. Richard graduated from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.
Dr. Eva Schaff-Blass
Eva is a Pediatrician whose medical career has included clinical work, teaching, management and administration. Soon after completing her medical training at the University of Michigan, Eva opened a pediatric practice in Bowling Green, Ohio where she continued to provide health care to children for next twenty years. She subsequently taught and practiced pediatrics at IUPUI School of Medicine in Indianapolis, and at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Most recently, Eva served as Medical Director for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Carolina. Eva’s work has been published in various medical journals, including The Journal of Pediatrics.
Michael, a successful real estate agent, was born and raised in Los Angeles. Prior to his career in real estate, Michael owned and operated a high-end women’s clothing company. His experience in the fashion industry gives Michael unique perspective into the importance of feeling beautiful, both inside and out. Committed to giving back, Michael is involved with numerous non-profit organizations in the Los Angeles community. Michael is father to three daughters and currently resides in Beverly Hills with his wife of 39 years, Sussan.
